How many hours a week do you write?

  • 100 words in 100 days 11/100

I'm sure it varies, but I would think we all have an average amount or a set minimum. If you've been reading my blog, you know I've been working through Randy's Fiction 101 course and he has an idea for setting goals to reach how ever many hours you'd like to be writing weekly at the end of each month. I decided I liked this idea.

He also says that one of the things that can place you into the next writing level (from Freshman to Sophomore) is to be writing a minimum of 5 hours per week. I’d like to reach the next level and this is a key component of it, so I’m going to work my way into it.

My current goal of 100 words a day for 100 days stands, but honestly, I’m not sure how long I’ve actually written each day. I never set a timer.

So I’m going to combine these goals. I’m still going for my 100 words a day for 100 days plus I’ll work on my weekly hour goals.

Here’s my goal schedule for the next year:

August: 2 hours per week
September: 3 hours per week
October: 5 hours per week
November: 5 hours per week
December: 5 hours per week
January: 6 hours per week
February: 6 hours per week
March: 7 hours per week
April: 7 hours per week
May: 8 hours per week
June: 9 hours per week
July: 10 hours per week

Anyone want to join me in either of these challenges? If you decide to, leave a comment on this blog and if you post about this on your blog, leave your url so I can visit.
